Jailed Ice Cube Associate In Search Of Artists for Benefit CD
Jailed rapper DaSean "J-Dee" Cooper, who is famed for his work with Ice Cube and Da Lench Mob, is seeking the help of his fellow artists and musicians to create a CD aimed at earning him a fair trial.
Though Cooper's trial was wrought with inconsistencies, including conflicting statements from witnesses and a lack of physical evidence the prosecution colored the jury perception of him by sharing a copy of Guerillas in the Mist in order to depict J-Dee as a vicious gangster.
Convicted of the 1993 murder, J-Dee is currently serving 29 years to life in a California prison but throughout his twelve years in prison J-Dee has continued to maintain his innocence. Unfortunately, several years ago J-Dee's former legal team failed to meet the deadline to file for his appeal. Under new counsel, J-Dee is seeking for the courts to grant him a new and fair trial.
The Free J-Dee project is aimed at recognizing the injustices of the current judicial system and taking action. Supporters of the project are accepting submissions from all genres of music to put together a CD in support of J-Dee. All proceeds from CD sales will go to J-Dee's legal campaign.
Supporters in search of other artists to collaborate with can contact Jazzy D at jazzymanagement@yahoo.com or Ms BattleCry at msbattlecry@battlecryofinnocence.com with any questions.
Submissions can be sent to: freejdee@battlecryofinnocence.com. The deadline for submission is August 30, 2006.
