Justo's Mixtape Awards didn't go exactly as planned this year, but that didn't stop Jamaica Queens native DJ Superstar Jay from receiving Rookie Of the Year honors the following day, via a telephone call no less. "They called me up on the phone to tell me that I won, since the joint was shut down like three categories in", Jay explained. The ROTY first touched the tables at age 12, and honed his skills under the watchful eyes of Kid Capri, Ron G., and DJ Clue. After a basketball scholarship landed him briefly in college, Superstar Jay realized that maybe the NBA wouldn't be calling as he had thought. His fallback plan would turn out to be his turntable talents. Currently, Superstar Jay has sold more than 50,000 units to date and Jay is the hottest up and coming powerhouse in the mixtape game right now.
