Aftermath Signee Joell Ortiz Goes The Indie Route

After signing a deal with Dr. Dre's Aftermath Records, Joell Ortiz is now set to drop a street album, The Brick (Bodega Chronicles), on Koch Records.
The record, which is slated for a February 27 release, will include a collection of more street-oriented material and will help to serve as an appetizer until Ortiz's Aftermath debut hits shelves. An alum of The Source
magazine's "Unsigned Hype" column, the Brooklyn, NY native earned a strong fan base after his many mixtape appearances, reportedly received Dre's blessing before releasing the album.
Ortiz's single, "Brooklyn," received a fair amount of spins on New York's Hot 97
radio station as well as being featured on mixtapes by several DJs including Whoo Kid and Kay Slay.
The LP will feature a slew of guest appearances from Immortal Technique, M.O.P., Ras Kass, Big Noyd, Graph and Stimuli. The disc will also feature production from The Alchemist, Showbiz, Fame of M.O.P., Moss and others.
The Brick (Bodega Chronicles) hits stores on February 27 on Koch Records.
