MTV Heads To Chi-Town, Teams Up with Asylum For Chicago Rap Compilation

Having previously profiled cities like Houston, Atlanta and The Bay, MTV2 is heading to Chi-Town for the latest installment of their successful "My Block" series with "My Block: Chicago."
The show, which is set to air on October 9th at 12 pm ET/PT, will take a closer look at the
hip-hop scene throughout the City of Wind and those who have helped the city to emerge as a hotbed for hip-hop talent.
The show will feature segments with a who's who list of Chicago
artists including Common, Lupe Fiasco, Twista, Rhymefest and Shawwna with her father, legendary Blues artist Buddy Guy, as they take cameras through the streets of "The Chi" to some of the city's landmark spots.
Also featured will be a look at "foot working", a unique style of dance originating on the city's South Side that has become a staple in Chicago culture.
Accompanying the show will be My Block: Chicago - The
Soundtrack released on Asylum Records, featuring both new and classic songs by a host of Windy City artists.
"Our goal in partnering with MTV2 for My Block: Chicago - The Soundtrack is to please both the true, educated fans of hip-hop as well as the novices new to the
game," stated Todd Moscowitz, President of Asylum Records. "Just like the critically-acclaimed series, the MTV2 My Block soundtracks will take fans on a ride through the past, present and future of a city's hip-hop history, lifestyle, and culture."
Viewers will have the opportunity to view extended footage and check out additional Chicago artists by using
MTV's Overdrive feature following the show's premiere. Fans can also upload their own 3-5 minute videos to MTV2.com as part of the "Your Block" contest for a chance to have their local hip-hop scene profiled on the network
