It seems that Nas has revealed to Rolling Stone magazine, in a recent article, that he plans for his forthcoming record, Hip-Hop Is Dead, to “…broaden [his] audience back up to where it needs to be.” His co-manager, Mark Pitts, goes further, saying that the record will “…show Nas’s potential to cross over from hip-hop to pop.” To that end, the Queensboro legend has enlisted the production assistance of many of today’s go-to men for nightclub bangers, including Dr. Dre, Scott Storch, Timbaland, Pharrell, and Will.i.am, of Black Eyed Peas fame/infamy, who laid the foundation for the album’s title track. Pitts continues to confirm that Nas has contacted none other than the king of pop, Michael Jackson, hoping the gloved one might contribute vocals to the project. The streets are raising a warning flag, but the proof will stay in the pudding, as we will have to wait until September to judge the finished product.
