Organized Noize’s Sleepy Brown Steps Out With Debut LP

Sleepy Brownis stepping out this fall with his new album Mr. Brown on Purple Ribbon/Virgin.
The Dungeon Family member is most known for his work on the mic with
Outkast and TLC, and his work behind the boards as a member of the critically acclaimed production team Organized Noize.
Brown has been looking forward to releasing a solo effort for quite some time.
The singer, born Patrick Brown, released a single "I Can't Wait" on the Barbershop 2: Back in Business Soundtrack but despite completing his For the Grown and Sexy album, the downfall of Dreamworks Records prevented the album's release. The long overdue wait is nearly over, Mr. Brown will debut on September 26 and the album promises to deliver Sleepy Brown at his finest.
"I just wanted to make a record that was smooth and that everyone could enjoy," Sleepy said via statement. "I felt like a lot of the R&B out right now was very club oriented, and I wanted to make something that stood out from that."
The first single off the album is "Margarita," which was produced by the Neptunes and features Big Boi and Pharrell. While the song has been described as "vintage-pop-soul," Sleepy would likely agree that the album intended to restore the
soul in contemporary music.
"I just want to bring that real soulful vibe back to the music," Sleepy stated. "I think we made something that is different than anything else that people have heard, even though hopefully, it'll remind them of the records from back in the day."
