Lil Kim Reality Show Ready For Small Screen

Viewers can expect to see the Queen Bee and entourage attending fashion shows, exclusive parties, and completing music video shoots before preparing to serve out her sentence.
BET plans to air "Lil Kim: Countdown to Lockdown" in a series of 6 half-hour episodes. The network produced the series in conjunction with Edmonds
Entertainment, helmed by series executive producer Tracey Edmonds ("Soul Food").
As SOHH previously reported,
BET was forced to defend the show against charges that it glamorized incarceration and condoned the rapper's perjury offense.
"It's a very serious look at her life and her choices, and the consequences of those choices," BET president Reginald Hudlin said via statement.
Those consequences include the paring down of the glamorous persona audiences are accustomed to seeing. The series will allow viewers to see Kim as she makes physical preparations to turn herself into authorities, removing her hair extensions, make-up and acrylic nails before saying her final goodbyes.
Lil Kim (born Kimberly Jones) has been serving a 366 day sentence at Philadelphia's Federal detention center since September. Although Kim is currently just shy of six months into her sentence, fans can see her new
video "Whoa" currently in rotation on BET.
BET's "Lil Kim: Countdown to Lockdown" premieres on Thursday, March 9.
