Universal Music Partners With MTV
Universal Music Group recently announced its new partnership with MTV.
As part of their agreement, MTV will create and distribute full-length music videos and original video programming for mobile devices from Universal's catalog of artists.
The network will also produce original programs from its shows such as "Sucker Free" and VH1's "Live@VH1.com."
"This is a digital deal, and all of this has been in the works for a long time," said MTV's VP of wireless strategies and operations, Greg Clayman, via a statement. "It's important to Universal to reach more viewers, and for us to program more content to our viewers.
MTV will distribute the music and videos of Universal artists through relationships with more than 70 mobile carriers in the U.S. and abroad
Artists on the Universal roster include Eminem, 50 Cent, Kanye West, Jay-Z and Lil' Wayne, among others.
