Lil Kim Pays Homage To MC Lyte, Gives First Performance Since Her Release

Lil Kim is set to take the stage at this year's VH1 Hip-Hop Honors in a tribute to pioneering rapper MC Lyte.
The Brooklyn-born MC will be rocking the mic to honor her fellow Brooklynite in what will be her first performance since being released from prison.
As previously reported by, the rapper was convicted of perjury in 2005 and served 10 months in jail in connection with a shooting that took place outside of New York's Hot 97 studios in 2001.
The Queen Bee will perform MC Lyte's hit "Lyte As A Rock" at the VH1 Hip-Hop Honors, which will take place on October 7 in New York City.
"MC Lyte is at the top of the list when you talk about hip-hop pioneers," Lil' Kim said in a statement issued on Tuesday. "She paved the way for myself and any of today's greatest MCs. I'm honored to have the opportunity to show my respect and how she influenced me."
Lil Kim will not be the only one paying her respect to legendary
hip-hop artists during the event. Ludacris, OutKast, Diddy, Da Brat, Fat Joe and Lil Jon will also be participating in this year's festivities as they show their appreciation for ground breaking artists like Ice Cube, the Wu-Tang Clan, Afrika Bambaataa, Russell Simmons, Rakim, the Beastie Boys and the late Eazy-E.
The show is set to air on VH1 on October 17
