Mos Def Hits "Rewind," Joins Danny Glover And Jack Black In New Film

Mos Def has recently joined an all-star cast for New Line Cinema and Focus Features' new comedy, Be Kind Rewind.
The
film centers around Jerry (played by comedian Jack Black), a character who accidentally becomes magnetized while trying to sabotage a power plant and erases all the tapes in a video store where Mos' character works. The film also stars Danny Glover, Mia Farrow and Melonie Diaz.
The role is just the latest in Mos' increasingly extensive body of work. The Brooklyn-born emcee/thespian also turned out memorable performances in The Hitch Hiker's Guide to the Galaxy, 16 Blocks and the HBO films Lackawanna Blues and Something the Lord Made. Mos
was also recently cast in HBO's Little Scarlet, a film based on Walter Mosley's 2004 novel of the same name.
Shooting for the film begins on September 5 in New Jersey and is scheduled for a 2007 release.
In related news,
Mos is also currently gearing up for the release his third solo album titled True Magic. The album, which is a follow up to The New Danger, is slated for release via Geffen Records on September 26th.
