Cut Chemist Co-Headlines Fall Tour, Prepares for In-Store Appearances
Turntablist/DJ Cut Chemist and rapper Lyrics Born will embark on a three-week tour in the fall, beginning Oct. 19 in Los Angeles. The outing, which concludes Nov. 11 in Philadelphia, will follow two Cut Chemist shows on Aug. 17, one at Amoeba Music in San Francisco and another at the store's Berkeley location. The events coincide with the recent release of the former Ozomatli and Jurassic 5 member's first full-length solo album, The Audience's Listening. The Warner Bros. Records set, which hit stores July 11, features the bossa nova-style single "The Garden," which contains a sample of Astrud Gilberto's "Berimbau." "The Los Angeles in-store had such an enormous turnout that we didn't want his Bay Area fans to have to wait for a tour to hear the album live -- we decided to deliver Cut Chemist sooner than later," says Amoeba marketing director Kara Lane. Fans who attend both Amoeba Music shows will be able to enter a drawing to win a Vestax Handy Trax portable turntable signed by Cut Chemist. Those who purchase "The Audience's Listening" at the store will receive a free limited-edition silk-screened poster by Humboldt artist Forest Stearns.
