Kanye West and Common Get In The Mixx

The Global Mixx DJ Retreat recently announced that Common and Kanye West will serve as co-chairpersons at their conference this summer.
Launched in 2005, The Global Mixx DJ Retreat is an exclusive invitation-only conference where urban DJs and emerging artists can network, socialize with
music executives, preview upcoming releases and attend panels.
In exchange for their participation, charitable donations will be made to the rappers' non-profit organizations. The Kanye West Foundation's goal is to fight the dropout rate and keep musical instruments
in America's schools. Common's Common Ground Foundation was set up to fight poverty and keep health awareness in less fortunate areas of the country.
"Each of us stems from our own community and what we learn from it matters a great deal on our interaction with others outside of it" said Mary Datcher, the Global Mixx DJ Retreat Founder, via a statement. "Sharing our resources through organizations such as the Kanye West and Common Ground Foundation is vital for the survival of our Youth."
The 2006 Global Mixx DJ Retreat will take place on August 10-13 at The House of Blues in Chicago.
As SOHH previously reported,
Common is currently working on his seventh album titled Finding Forever with Kanye West. The Chicago bred rapper will also be co-starring alongside Alicia Keys and Ben Affleck in his film debut Smokin' Aces, which opens in theaters later this year.
