Paul Wall Gets Real for VH1, Plans Reality Show
Paul Wall may be come VH1's next "celebreality" star with his own reality series for the network.
According to The Hollywood Reporter, the network recently ordered a pilot for a series starring the Houston rapper (born Paul Slayton). The unscripted show is being produced by Pink Sneakers, the production company that also produces VH1's Hulk Hogan series "Hogan Knows Best."
VH1 has also ordered eight half-hour episodes of another Pink Sneakers show, "My Big Fat Fabulous Wedding." The show is features couples who are dropping big bucks -- $500,000 and up -- on their weddings.
"We're basically following couples planning big, over-the-top weddings who are spending insane amounts of money on flowers or bringing in big-name bands to their wedding," Pink Sneakers head Kimberly Belcher Cowin told the trade magazine. "[It'll show] the drama that goes into planning a wedding along with the concept of big money -- the people in that top tier who are planning these crazy bashes and spending jaw-dropping amounts of money."
In related news, Wall is gearing up to release Ain't No 401 K For a Hustla, the follow-up to his 2005 smash major label debut, The People's Champ. Although there is currently no release date for the project, the album is expected to drop during 2006 through Swisha House/Atlantic.
VH1 plans to premiere "My Big Fat Fabulous Wedding" next fall, but there is currently no premiere date scheduled for Paul Wall's show.
