OutKast Gets Idlewild

By now you probably know that the soundtrack to Idlewild, the Prohibition-era film starring Andre 3000 and Big Boi, is scheduled for an August 22nd release- three days before the release of the film itself. However, unless you copped the May 26th issue of Entertainment Weekly, you might have missed some interesting news about the duo. While it should come as no surprise that EW paints OutKast as a group on the verge of a major schism, the article reveals that Dre and Big Boi currently record in different studios and further quotes Big Boi as stating, "That sh-t’s f---ed up, for real", referring to Dre's unwillingness to tour as a member of OutKast. EW further reports that the duo only appears together in three of Idlewild's scenes and that the accompanying soundtrack features very few songs with vocals by both members. Ultimately, no one interviewed by EW is confident enough to explicitly predict the group’s demise and since those interviewed include both Dre and Big Boi (and since we’ve heard this story before), I would wait to hear it from the horse’s mouth. However, I thought you’d like to know.
