Swizz Beatz Says He's Eager To Lay Down Beats With Cassidy
Swizz Beatz says his friend Cassidy should be out of prison in less than two months and have a new album out by the summer."ASAP," Swizz said earlier this week about when Cass wants to start recording again. "He's ready. He said he wants to spend a week or two with his family [when he gets out], then [record]. He said he wants 200 beats. When he's in the shower, he wants to hear a beat. When he's playing with his son, he wants to hear a beat. He wrote so much stuff when he was in [jail]. He has a lot of explaining to do to his fans. He has a lot of stuff to get off his chest."On Tuesday Cassidy was found guilty of involuntary manslaughter and sentenced to at least 11 months in jail with time served (see "Cassidy Convicted Of Involuntary Manslaughter — Will Be Eligible For Parole Soon"). He should be eligible for parole "in the near future," according to his defense attorney."[The judge had to] give [Cassidy] something to make an example," Swizz said. "But he's not guilty of the major charges. He will be a free man. I talk to him every day. He's feeling he should have been [innocent] of everything. I had to let him know he was facing major charges and there's a person not on this earth anymore. But these things are worked out in the court. It worked in our favor, he can't wait to get out and put out his music. We might repackage [2005's I'm a Hustla] with a couple of new cuts."Swizz says Cass' new LP will definitely have more conscience-oriented material on it. "Not to say he won't still spit those bars to bite people's heads off lyrically — he's preparing for that, but he's preparing to be an example out there for the youth," Swizz said. "He wants to share his experience so they won't be in an experience he was in."Beatz is enjoying success this week after stepping out from his Full Surface Records and Ruff Ryders camp. "Check Up on It," a song he produced for Beyoncé, is the #1 song on the Billboard Hot 100. Swizz is also working on albums by DMX, Styles P., Drag-On, Eve, Bone Thugs-N-Harmony and hopes to start working on a new LOX album as well.
