Kanye back in controversial hot seat

Wasn't Ye done with interviews? Oh yeah, the Grammys are coming. "I'm trying to promote myself for more Grammy votes," West told Entertainment Tonight. Promotion, controversy, Ye is sure to get a bit of both as Rolling Stone Magazine's new cover pictures him as Jesus Christ, blood trickling down his face, crown of thorns and all. Religious groups have not been too pleased with the stunt. "Using the suffering of our Lord to sell their magazines is cheapening," Kiera Mc Caffrey, director of communications for The Catholic League for Religious and Civil Rights, told ET. "They think, 'Hey, this is really going to turn heads. This is going to sell magazines. Why don't we do it?' But they're so careful not to offend other groups. There really isn't this fear with Christians. I doubt they'd ever do something similar with Mohammad. You just wouldn't see it. But with Jesus and Christianity, it's just open game." Interestingly, other groups are painting West as the victim. "This kind of thing has become commonplace," William Donohue, of the Catholic League, told New York's Daily News. "It's one thing to rip off Catholic iconography. It's quite another to exploit a poor soul like Kanye West. Anyone who is this morally and mentally challenged deserves our sympathy not our derision."
