Got A Penny? Prince Paul Honored With "Free" Show

In an effort to "give back to the hip hop community," organizers of the 5th Annual Room Service and Brooklyn Bodega CMJ Showcase have lowered the price of admission to just one penny.
Apparently inspired by the recent display of the culture's strength and solidarity at this year's
VH1 Hip Hop Honors, Room Service Group president Wes Jackson stated that, "In the spirit of [Afrika] Bam[baattaa] and the Zulu Nation, we felt that included breaking down the barriers of entry. These days the biggest barrier is financial. A $20 ticket is going to keep certain people out and that is not in our mission...we are going to let everybody in and rock like an old school jam from 101 Park in the Bronx."
As previously reported,
the event is set to take place on October 31st at BB King's in New York City. The event will pay homage to legendary hip hop producer Prince Paul and will feature appearances by many of the artists that Paul has collaborated with spanning the course of his career including Stetsasonic, Mr. Len, CL Smooth, DJ J. Period, A.G., Freddie Foxxx, Dres of Black Sheep and The Juggaknots.
Event organizers have also alluded to the possibility of more major artists being confirmed for the showcase in the near future. In addition, Brooklyn Bodega will be giving away free tickets to select members of it's website community up until the date of the showcase.
