Juvenile Hands Out Reality Checks

New Orleans rapper Juvenile has been very outspoken since last year’s Hurricane Katrina disaster. He recently opened up to Davey D about the government’s lack of assistance for his home town both during and after the tragedy. Juve also agreed with Kanye West’s statement about President Bush not caring about black people. However, the agreement only came after G.W. did little to prove him wrong. ”Kanye West came out… and really put his career on the line in a statement… I didn’t see the president go out of his way to prove Kanye wrong, so I gotta feel the same way dude is feelin, like they don’t like black people.”He took it a step further and added all minorities to the list of people that the government doesn’t care about.”Not only black people, but every other minority in this country. They ain’t never do nothing to give everybody in this country equal opportunity. Never.”In addition to blasting the government, several media outlets also received a reality check as well. Those in the cross hairs included MTV, BET Fox News.”As far as CBS, MTV…we ain’t seen no money…Especially Fox, personally I don’t like Fox. Fuck Fox.”Nancy Grace, and CNN and other outlets were also criticized by Juve for flying over the victims without making an attempt to administer aid. Juvenile is set to release his debut album on Atlantic Records next month, aptly titled Reality Check. The latest video for the album displays much of what Juve spoke about in his interview with Davey D. In Get Ya Hustle On, the rapper is flanked by the rest of his UTP crew on location in New Orleans. Much of the damage from Katrina is documented on the video along with three children walking through the rubble with George Bush, Dick Cheney and Ray Nagin masks on.
